Classic 71 show
This was always one of my favorites shows to listen in its entirety going back to the late 1980's. The Dead were playing very well in 1971 and this show is a good example of how solid they were, combining old tunes like The Other One and Hard to Handle with new ones like Wharf Rat, Goin' Down The Road, Uncle John's Band, and others. Providence, Rhode Island was an underrated hot spot for The Dead for many years, including a ton of shows at Providence Civic Center. This show, at the 5,200 seat Rhode Island Auditorium, must have been intimate to say the least. Doubt it was sold out which is INSANE! If I had a time machine I wouldn't stop the Titanic from sinking but I'd go to THIS SHOW!
